When solitary city guard Ailith MacCree is hired to sneak something out of the kingdom of the power-hungry king, she accepts without hesitation. The payout from the mission will easily save Ailith and her family from the poverty they’ve struggled with for most of her life, as well as provide her disabled parents medical attention. When she finds out that she is actually taking the king’s youngest daughter Caitriona beyond the kingdom—and that the princess has uncontrollable, illegal powers that could lead to an explosive end of the kingdom if left unrestrained—Ailith must figure out how to save the princess while avoiding losing her family as well as her life.
